Help Moving Forward Helping you become more like Christ.

The promise of the Bible is that God has much more in store for you and that these plans are really good for you.

At Church Together we are committed to helping you to grow in your relationship with Christ and faithfully finding, following and fulfilling the loving and generous desires that He has for you. We believe that the goal of Christian discipleship (the process of becoming more like Christ) is to be fruitful in life and faithful in love. This statement is based on key scriptures regarding what we should see happening in our lives as we grow closer to Jesus.

Discipleship Chart

This article is designed to help you determine where you are in your relationship with God in the hope that you can draw closer towards His likeness in your life. We believe that we are not saved by our own efforts but by God’s grace and also that we grow by God’s grace and not our own efforts. Our hope is that this document allows you to honestly evaluate where you are, see some areas in your life, that the Holy Spirit would want to work with you on and then take some tangible steps to draw near to God. We want to affirm that growth in our relationship with God is a work of God’s grace that requires a commitment on our behalf to receive. We hope that this document can be used as a tool to help you love yourself, love others and most importantly love God as He intends.

Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in His eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, Feasting on His faithfulness. If you make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, He will provide for you what you desire the most! Give God the right to direct your life And as you trust Him along the way You’ll nd He pulled it o perfectly!
Psalm 37:3-5 The Passion Translation
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-10

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN DISCIPLE?

Jesus commanded us to make disciples. Here at Church Together we take this charge to heart. We want you help you move from where you are closer to the image of God. We are purposefully growing to be more like our Lord Jesus Christ through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. We also desire to help everyone who wants to follow Jesus to also grow steadily in Him for His glory and purpose. As we submit to God in faith, we are grafted into the vine of God’s essence and begin to receive His life, take on his nature, and become fruitful.

WHAT DOES A DISCIPLE LOOK LIKE?

Disciples of Jesus Christ are people who have:

  • Recognized their separation from God through sin and their inability to bridge that separation on their own
  • Understood that Jesus, the only Son of God, died a blameless death as payment for their sin
  • Abandoned their own way for self-fufillment
  • Received by faith this un-earned gift of salvation
  • Committed their life to following Jesus
  • Dedicated themselves to learning how to obey the Lord’s commands and follow His voice

HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE

Take few minutes, sit down in a comfy chair and quietly ask the Holy Spirit to help you in this process. Review the fteen indicators of maturity that scripture identfies.
Give yourself an honest and humble evaluation and circle the stage which best describes where you are at the present time.
Add up the numbers for all of the indicators as a baseline measurement.
Pause for a moment and thank God for all He has done in your life to get to this point.
Read through your responses and choose three indicators where you’d like see growth over the next quarter. Your goal is not to necessarily reach stage 5 in all these areas, but to progress to another stage to the right.
We encourage you to share with a trusted friend or church leader where you are seeking growth so that they can help provide the right resources and support to help you move forward. This is a personal document, so choose wisely the person you would like to help you.
After three months take the test again, review where you are and repeat the process.
See and experience God bringing you to closer levels of relationship and deeper levels of spiritual maturity.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
— Ephesians 2:8-10

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
— John 14:26
